Telegatti 2007

Italian set designer Marco Calzavara used 82 frames of Phantom 60 to provide a spiral video backdrop for the Telegatti 2007 awards, broadcast on Italy’s Canale 5.

Telegatti, described as the grand prix of entertainment, is an annual awards ceremony for celebrities from the entertainment world, organized in conjunction with TV Sorrisi e Canzoni magazine. The four categories of television, cinema, music, and sport include awards for Program of the Year and Personality of the Year. The 2007 awards were held at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome and broadcast two days later on Canale 5 to an audience of some 7 million viewers.

Marco Calzavara’s large spiral backdrop complemented the circular set and was used to project the names and categories of the various celebrities and awards. Comprising 82 Phantom 60 frames, the spiral was light, transparent and easily put together, and provided extremely bright and colorful graphics – vital for the television cameras.
